Taipei, Selangor sign MOUs on cooperation (29.3.17)

Taipei sealed three memorandums of understanding with the Malaysian state of Selangor on Monday, paving the way for bilateral cooperation on transportation experience, innovation industry and smart cities.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je (柯文哲) and Mohamed Azmin bin Ali, chief minister of Selangor.

The three agreements were signed, respectively, by Deputy Taipei Mayor Charles Lin (林欽榮) and Teng Chang Khim (鄧章欽), senior executive councilor of Selangor; Lin Chung-chieh (林崇傑), chief of Taipei’s Department of Economic Development, and Yong Kai Ping (楊凱斌), chief executive of the Selangor Information Technology and E-Commerce Council; and Lee Wei-bin (李維斌), chief of Taipei’s Department of Information Technology, and Fahmi Ngah, deputy program director of the Smart Selangor Delivery Unit.

Ko noted that Taipei is promoting the development of new energy and green transportation as part efforts to improve the city’s transportation service, and is happy to share and export its experience.

The cooperation between Taipei and Selangor in the development of e-commerce and smart cities can help raise the visibility of their e-commerce operators and facilitate the development of digital technology and Internet security, he said.
