Selangor Gerakan State Liaison Committee Chairman Dato’ David Ang Chin Tat condemned the Selangor state government for showing its true colours in its recent moves of acquiring water assets from Puncak Niaga and Syabas. He chided Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali over his poor justification on the moves.

He pointed out that Puncak Niaga is a listed company whereas Syabas is a registered company. Puncak Niaga must submit quarterly report to Bursa Malaysia whereas Syabas has to submit annual report to Inland Revenue Board (LHDN). If what Azmin Ali said earlier is accepted, does it mean that Bursa Malaysia and LHDN are lacking transparency in their operations?

He said that Azmin Ali mentioned in his speech earlier on Monday that the state government after the acquisition of both companies, there will be management restructure and annual reports will be submitted to the state government and public in order to ensure efficiency and transparency. Does it mean that Bursa Malaysia and LHDN have failed their duties and condoned malpractices to the extent of failing to acknowledge the lack of transparency in both companies?

“Azmin Ali who has ran out of ideas has started to show his true colours, tricks as employed by the state government will not escape from public scrutiny. After its water restructuring announcement, followed by the acquisition of water concessionaires and now the announcement of hike in water tariffs.”

“The Selangor Pakatan state government has been blaming central government on various policies including toll hikes, but its own actions have burdened the lives of people who are already experiencing a difficult time now.”

As such, David Ang urges Selangorians to see the true colours of the state government, especially the Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated (MBI) with its Darul Ehsan Investment Group (DEIG) subsidiary that is scandalously similar to 1MDB. It was exposed recently of possible abuse of power and Azmin Ali had personally conceded that state government has not given up on building Sungai Besi-Ulu Kelang Elevated Expressway (SUKE), East Klang Valley Expressway (EKVE) widely opposed Damansara-Shah Alam Highway (DASH).

“Following the announcement of impending water tariffs hike and its actions, what is the difference between them and the criticism they showered on the federal government?”
