Gerakan National President cum Minister in Prime Minister’s Department, Y.B. Dato’ Mah Siew Keong offered deepest condolences to the families of 19 victims who perished in the unexpected earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9 on the Richter scale that struck Ranau, Sabah on Friday. He was deeply saddened by the loss of lives in this unfortunate event while also paid tribute to mountain guides on their selfless acts and bravery to help the injured and stranded climbers in the aftermath of the earthquake.
Mah prayed for the safety of residents in affected districts including those who are stranded on Mount Kinabalu. He was confident that search and rescue efforts are in full swing to rescue affected victims.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to those impacted by this earthquake and their families, including the members of search and rescue team. I have instructed Sabah Gerakan to monitor closely the situation on the ground and providing assistance wherever possible,” said Mah
