EATERIES in Klang that have yet to instal grease traps after being compounded for the offence earlier will have their licences revoked.
The Klang Municipal Council (MPK) has issued 49 compound notices so far this year to operators who flouted the grease trap regulation.
Council Health Department acting director Zulkifli Abbas said the council would revoke the licences of those who refuse to instal a grease trap after being compounded earlier.
“We will not tolerate this as the grease trap is one of the conditions in their licence.
“The grease trap is required to prevent oil from being channelled into the drain,” he said.
Zulkifli added it was compulsory for all eateries to be equipped with grease traps.
“The device is connected to the sink and meant to prevent the oil from getting into public drains,” he said, adding the sludge would clog the drains.
